Vicky’s process starts with her travelling to different zoos across the country to make sketches from life and to take photos for additional reference. She found this was her preferred method of working as it gave so much character to her images.

Extra detail was added onto each sketch, and then transferred onto the lino used to create this series of 4 colour reduction linocuts. When cutting into the lino Vicky interpreted her images with a printmakers eye, not strictly following the lines of the sketch; but making certain cuts carved intuitively; wanting the end result to look like it could only be have been done via this method of printing.
